Liver of Sulphur is used with metals to add an antiqued vintage look, black or iridescent coloured patina (Colours can range from black, purple, blue, copper and gold) It is great for making any surface texture or decoration more visible.
This concentrated liquid needs to be diluted before use. Dilute a few drops with water and either dip item in or apply with a brush. Immerse for 5 to 20 seconds for desired patina.
Comes in a handy 15ml (approx.) dropper bottle with full instructions (will send PDF instructions once email has been forwarded by buyer) for achieving different patinas. This small bottle goes a surprisingly long way! (ratio: 25ml to 1 litre of warm water, this can be made up in small batches)
For a small quantity, it can be diluted with a few drops in water for use with a brush etc.
The metal can be immersed in water for approx 5-20 seconds depending on the patina you require.
For use on copper add 10ml to 1 litre of water
For use on silver add 25ml to 1 litre of water
When using the solution use a well-ventilated area and protective gloves and glasses.

SAFETY INFORMATION

PHYSICAL DATA: Very soluble in water.
TOXICOLOGY: Harmful if swallowed. Irritant. Gas (hydrogen sulphide).

PERSONAL PROTECTION: Gloves, safety glasses.
APPEARANCE AND ODOUR: Yellowish-brown liquid. May discolour on exposure to air and light. The odour of hydrogen sulphide.
REACTIVITY: Decomposes in the air to free sulphur and potassium carbonate turning yellow to grey. Incompatible with acids, oxidizers, alcohol, carbonated water.
FIRST AID: wash contact area thoroughly with water. If eye irritation persists, see a doctor. If swallowed, give water or milk and induce vomiting.
INHALATION – Remove to fresh air. Launder clothing before reuse.
SPILLS AND LEAKS: Sweep up spills and collect for disposal. Ventilate area. Wash spill area thoroughly with water. Disposal suitable in a domestic drain
STABILITY: Stable. Incompatible with strong acids, alcohols, strong oxidizing agents, strong reducing agents, combustible materials, halogenated hydrocarbons.
